Making a difference in the community
Each year, Celebration of Song brings people of all walks of life together through the magic of holiday music. This year, the event will also help us continue making a difference for those who have been devastated by Hurricane Helene, and WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Following the catastrophic destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, the agricultural communities in the Appalachian Mountains and surrounding areas were among those hit the hardest. Early estimates conservatively place damage at $4 billion. The effects are expected to continue impacting agriculture in Appalachia for the next 15 to 20 years.
To support the agricultural communities in North Carolina and Tennessee, we are partnering with Burkmann Nutrition on an adopt-a-farmer program. You can adopt a farm family or community impacted by Hurricane Helene by donating to the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation.
About this year’s Celebration of Song
Celebration of Song brings the magic of the holiday season to Lexington. The event is complimentary and open to the public and showcases the sounds of the season — from traditional carols to popular Christmas music and the melodies of many special winter celebrations. Please invite your friends, family and members of the community to join us.
Alongside the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre and winners of the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition, the program will feature the Uniting Voices Lexington youth choir. Led by artistic director and acclaimed baritone Dr. Michael Preacely, graduate winner of the 2010 Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition, Uniting Voices Lexington empowers and unites youth from diverse backgrounds through the power of music.
